First Trimester

23rd June, Monday, 3.00 PM

Today we arrived slightly earlier and again…we have to wait. Patience is the essence of this whole visit or rather for the rest of our visits.

As we have been told that this visit we will be doing the DS test, which will take at least 30 mins. Hence, we were told to be early and so is our appointment time. Good thing…the appointment time was brought forward from 4 PM to 3 PM….thank goodness…here’s why.

Before each consultation, the nurse will measure my weight n BP and yes…I finally regain my weight and in fact I put on an all new 2kg! It’s strange…very seldom any woman has ever felt so delighted…in gaining weight…hahhaa…Well, I have been so sick that…I can hardly eat much..talk about anything that is nutritious. The moment I am on my road to recovery (although not completely yet) I started to eat as much nutritious food as my stomach can take it..or rather our lil’ one can take it.

After which the nurse…had to draw blood from me for the necessary lab. tests (Strange enough I didn’t get any ‘blue-black’ on the day or even the day after..butI just realised this morning that there’s a ’blue-black’ mark!).  We waited for about 45 mins. before our turn to see our lil’ one…but it was a session that barely last 30 mins., as what we were told earlier.

We over heard that one of Dr Ong’s patients is undergoing labour and soon to deliver…and so…suddenly…our visit was cut short…alamak! That would means no long talk…which we normally…does…lor…and the moment we entered his room, he apologises to us. Well it’s alright for us…as long as he doesn’t compromise on the test procedure, and indeed he did a swift job. Soon enough…we got to see our lil’ one…again….and daddy was amazed by the image produced on the ultrasound machine…cos that was his first time seeing the lil’ heart pounding away…and also the super fast heart beat.

We are glad to hear that lil’ one is doing fine…so far..and the heart beat is beating like 164 beats/min. Lil’ one has grown much bigger…as compared to 5 weeks ago, in fact twice the length (CRL)…oh…by the way lil’ one is in the 12th week gestation period.

Our Lil\' One at Week 12

Daddy was so amazed by it…even until now….hahaha…..well..as for me…when I saw lil’ one…I didn’t feel as amazed as daddy..maybe perhaps…I have seen such stuff before…in books…and on the media..so maybe…I still don’t feel much a thing…as of now…maybe at the later stage bah.

As of now, I have yet to feel any fluttering-kind-of feeling within my almost-no-space uterus…maybe a few more weeks..I will be able to feel it. Nevertheless, lil’ one is very busy inside …I could see all the wriggling..and movements…through the ultrasound. We could also hear lil’ one’s racing heart beat…..we managed to caught it on the video…but I have some problem trying to upload it here…

Now..is the waiting game…will have to wait for the blood test results and if all is well…we will see Dr Ong again…in a month time.

This entry is long overdue…cos I simply have no energy to write..now feeling slightly better although still feeling nausea…I am pushing myself to sit in front of the computer to write.

My second visit was supposed to be on 26th May 2008 (Mon) @ 4pm.

But the flu virus got the better of me and having too much medications really had me worrying, so left with no choice but to bring forward my appointment with Dr Ong.

On 22nd May 2008 (Thurs) morning @ 11:00 am, I went ahead with my second appointment. As usual, my blood pressure and weight was measured. On one hand I am delighted that I have lost some weight as compared to my previous visits, but on the other hand, I am feeling worried that my foetus is not getting enough nutrients. The flu virus is the culprit lah…that’s why! Of all the time but now…why so unfortunate?

Anyway, as usual had a relatively long wait…for about 45 minutes..until I saw Dr Ong. Have to update him on the type of medications that I have been taking…and later on…he gave me…one more flu medication to nurse my flu and…the same advice….drinks lots of water …..shucks..!

After that, he did a scan for me…and this time round I could hear our lil’ one’s heartbeat….too bad daddy wasn’t around to see it…cos he was busy at work. Lil’ one ’s heartbeat is beating @ 170 beats/min., which is normal for a foetus at this stage.

Lil’ one was 7 weeks old at the time of visit and it was nice to know that it is growing..inside my uterus… It has grown to a size of about 1.53 cm…much more than the last visit.

I am 7th Week Old

Isn’t it amazing…just a couple of weeks back Lil’ one is only 5 mm in length and now it has triple in length…

Daddy was sad that he had missed seeing and hearing lil’ one’s heartbeat…but no worries daddy, you will get to see me on mammy’s next visit…yeah..?!

Ok, so the next visit has been scheduled on 23rd June 2008 (Mon) @ 3 pm. Next visit will involve the D.S test and as it will take a longer than usual time, I am expected to be there at 3 pm. Let’s hope that everything will be alright…and in the mean time, lil’ one continues to stay healthy and keep on growing….

Its been a week+ since mummy fell sick.

She has been down with a viral infection. Fortunately, pappy is on study leave and can take care of mummy.

Mummy still nursing her flu and is going back to work tomorrow..I am kind of worried if she will be doing fine..and hope she recovers reaalllllll..reaalllll…. soon…..otherwise I will have to eat more of those yucky medicines. I can also feel that mummy is feeling real guilty…for taking so much medicines, but so little nutrients for me… :o (  Poor mummy…..

Now is pappy’s turn…he is feeling feverish and has a blocked nose…and mummy is trying very her best to nurse him back to health…otherwise..the both of them will have to take an even longer time to recover.

Love,
The lil’ one.

Oh my god…my worst nightmare has came true….

Of all time but now I am having a viral infection…an it started off with a sore throat and a blocked nose on Friday night. Thanks a lot man…what a way to start my weekend. This was not my worst fear…what I feared most was having to take those medications which may be harmful to my lil’ one…I am worried sick lor…

Well, the soar throat managed to subside by Monday but it developed into coughing! Worst! I was coughing my lungs out man….and the anti-histamine given by my doctor didn’t help! My blocked nose had worsen…and had to visit the doctor 5 times….all in all….!
As of now…today 15 May 2008 (Thursday) and almost a week since I got the flu bug…I am still nursing my blocked-and-sometimes-runny nose..and once-in-a- while-cough. I hoped I will recover real soon…cos I really don’t know what harm have I done to my lil’ one…I am so worried that it may caused any abnormalities or birth defects…choy ! choy! choy! *touch wood*. Although the doctors have assured me that they are rather “safe”…I am still quite apprehensive about it.

To make things worse..I am now in my 6th week gestation period…and am experiencing my “morning sickness”…shucks…I hate that! I have no appetite for any food…even though I am famished. Worst of the worse…my gynae is out of town…arghhh….!!!!! I have to call his nurses to get some assurance..and advice.

Darn…I am feeling so sick….let’s just hope I get well soon…and our lil’ one will be alright. Please pray for me. Thanks.

Today is the day! The much awaited day.

It was 10 minutes passed 4 pm as we arrived at Dr Ong’s clinic situated at Mount Elizabeth  Hospital.

Well anyway, as usual, he always ‘overrun’ his session and we waited for another 45 minutes before we get to see him….waiting…patiently…

The moment the nurse calls for turn….my heart skipped abit and it was pounding like crazy…and felt as if it is going to pop out of my mouth.

Strangely enough the moment I went into his consultation, everything seems to calm down.

Dr Ong used to be our long time family doctor and it was until earning his specialization in O&G, he started his practice at SGH and then on his own at Mt Elizabeth Hospital.

Hhahahaha….just like my mum, he was another person who is surprise to
learn about my pregnancy!

He proceeded with the norm and did an ultrasound scan for me …and yes he did find a water sac in my uterus! And thankfully it is in the right place (in my uterus and not elsewhere), at least we ruled out an ectopic pregnacy.

This little water sac, which houses the embryo (at this stage it is called an embryo) and it is about 5 mm in size only.

Our Lil\' One Growing in the Water Sac

According to Dr Ong, I am only in my 4thweek of gestation period.

Precautions were given and first thing first on his list is no raw meat..that means no sashimi lor..*sigh*

The consultation lasted for about 15- 20 minutes, and the next appointment was scheduled on 26th May 2008 (Monday) @ 4pm.

By then we will be able to see the foetus more clearly..I think by then I am in my 7th or the 8th week already!

Can’t wait for that day to arrive…both of us are pretty excited to see our lil’ one..at least in its foetus form.

The moment we stepped out of the hospital, I made a phone call to my mum and informed her about the

good news! Her first reaction was breaking out in laughter and definitely I could hear that it was a totally

different reaction as compared to the first time I told her about it! Hahaha…

After we returned home and had our dinner, I headed straight to bed and took a 15 minutes nap! I was so

very  tired!

This lil’ one is the reason why I have been feeling so lethargic recently.

My last menses was on 28th March 2008.

Could I be pregnant this time…or it is just another false alarm…thought to myself…and nah…was the word that ran through my mind…and dispersed the thought. However, as the day passes…and my menses was already 5 days overdue…thought to myself again the same question…so this time…my curiosity couldn’t hold one any longer…and guess what…a miracle has just happened to us!

Yesh…it comes when u least expected it…its oh so true…

On 2nd May 2008, morning at around 8.30 am, I did one of the most important test of my life. Filled with anticipation and yet skepticism, and still feeling a bit sleepy and not so wide awake, I did the test. Even before the window line showed completely, the ‘+’ sign appears right before my eyes! U bet…I was feeling wide awake now…and couldn’t believed what I have seen (so is my hubby).

It\'s positive!
My dear hubby is just so cute…he asked me..:” is that a ‘+’ sign ?” ..duh..???? I replied cheekily and said “..no..lah..it’s a ‘-’ sign”. After which, he just kept asking me…is this test kit accurate…? As a man, I don’t blame him…for being ignorant…about such stuff..benefit of the doubt given, but of course not all men is like him. So first thing first…he urged me to call my gynae to make an appointment to confirm this miracle.

So an appointment was made..with Dr Douglas Ong…of Douglas Ong Clinic For Woman, as there was no more available appointment for this week, so the earliest appointment we got was the following Monday – 5th of May 2008, 4 pm. Well…this kept us in suspense even longer….lor…and honestly speaking..we are both still much in a blur state…heheheh

And the first person to know this piece of news is my mum. Well…she is even more skeptical about the test than us. Frankly speaking, she was not really excited when I told her about the news…and thought to myself huh…I thought she has always wanted a grandchild..but why this kind of reaction? I told her that I will be visiting Dr Ong…only then she said :”yah it’s good to confirm the pregnancy by a gynae”.
