Our Lil’ One

Wow….how time flies…it is our 10th visit already!

Finally Kelvin managed to join us for the check-up. As most of out visits are scheduled during the weekdays, he can hardly applied for time-off or leave just to accompany us.

At this last visit, he was surprised at how fast Lil’ One has grown..yesh…Lil’ One has put on another 400gm and that made him a 2.3 kg (although we still considered him small), as compared to the 9th visit ~ which he weighs only a mere 1.9 kg. According to doc, he is doing well (above avg) and everything looks fine for now. The best part of it all is that I managed to mantain my weight..how is that possible…*scratching my head*..I am still sceptical if Lil’ One’s current weight is for real…

While at this visit, I also did a Group B test (swob test) to see if there is any bacteria infection. I shall not elaborate further about the test…well, just received the lab test result on wednesday and glad to hear from Nora that all is well.

My next goal, is to put another 400 – 500gm on him hahaha…dunoe how…but just trying my best to take as much proteins, carbo and calcium to build up his masses…(as I am typing this he is moving and kicking away…sign of protesting..? He want to be slim? hahaha..)

Next appointment ~ 6th Dec 2006 (Sat), till then lots of eating up to do (healthily ones I hope) …hehehe…

Heheheh…we had some cheeky fun at Studio Loft last Saturday – 15 Nov 2008.

Before I became preggy, I always tell myself that I will make sure..I go for a photoshoot to capture my pregnancy look..yah not just our normal photoshoot…the more professional type! Hahaha…and just last Saturday I managed to do that…and the best part is I managed to convince Lil’ One’s pappy to do it! He dreads that….(Sorry lah…u still have to do it..n I know..u r kind enough to accomodate a preggy’s wife..unreasonable request..hehehe). Anyway, this preggy photoshoot thingy is just in time to serve as a belated birthday treat for myself.

I managed to make my appointment way way before I reached my third trimester..I think it was during my 25th week…Kiasu.. and I was told that for best visual result (what were u thinking…? Of cos…they are talking about my tummy lah)…it would be best to take after the 33rd week…so…that’s how I ended up having my photoshoot only until now. Waited patiently for it….

It was a no fuss and hassel-less photo shoot, unlike u know…the one you took for ur wedding pix…I had simple n natural make-up..(in line with pregnancy mah…it’s a natural process or procreation..mah..so no diva look!)as for Kelvin…of cos’ no need lah…I am the lead leh..hehehehe

It only took us about 3-4 hrs, from make-up to photo selection! All done indoor though….cos…I am doing some ”explicit shots”…mah…I am not game enough for outdoor shots for that matter.

Well, now is the waiting game again…for the final masterpieces..to be processed and that would means another 3 weeks of waiting…hmmm..maybe by then Lil’ Kaelan is out to see everyone…ler..? Well only God knows…. )

In the mean time, I will share with you some shots (raw & unedited one) which we took during the photo shoot.

P.S:
I guess some of u might be wondering why spend a deal on taking pix..when you look or are at one of the most unglam moments of ur entire life? Duh…?

Well on the contrary, I think it is the best time to capture one of the most beautiful moments of my life, just before lil’ one arrives.., I think the after birth look is more terrible looking than while u r preggy (I dun wish to imagine). I wish to share it with Lil’ One and let him understand the beauty of procreation.

Alot of friends n relatives have been asking what’s Lil’ One’s name (English name) going to be…I guess…that’s only natural.

At the least and for a start, we are very sure…that we want his English name to start with the letter ‘K’…since our names have the letter ‘K’.

Although now..I am still very much contemplating on whether to have an English name or not..?..Why not..most people asked?  Simply…b’cos I dun want him to blame us for giving him an English name, which who knows..he may not like. I rather that when he is older..he can think of something he prefers to be called. But our dear friend felt otherwise…ok..fine…he has a fair share in the child as well…rite…?

So…while I was in my 1st trimester being an eager new parent, I started to scout for names (at that time still dunoe the gender of Lil’ One)..both for boys n girls. So as the time comes…when we learned about the gender…we “zoomed in” on all the names that starts with “K”…but little did I realised that there is so little names for boys that starts with “K”…argghh…..

Kieron lah…Kayden lah….Kaylan (the original spelling is Caelan)…lah….huh..that’s all…these are the ones…which we preferred. But what about Lil’ One…? Just when we have settled for the name Kaylan..another realisation…Kaylan is a girl’s name…when it is spelled in this manner…huh…?!!!!! Well, at least some books n websites said so….
Oh my god…I was thinking to myself…I dun want my Lil’ One to suffer from any mockery or identity crisis…leh…so I tell Kelvin…hey we better change the spelling…of his name…lah…otherwise…we would have to explain to everyone who asked….why the hell we chose this name…and later on in his life…he got to answer for himself…

Hahaha….so another round of brainstorming again…lor…Kaylan…cannot…and we dun like the original spelling…so…what about Kaelan..? Some people sure dunoe how to pronounce one…already some have never heard about this name…

So dear friends n relatives….I think his English name his not finalised yet..but already we are so fond of calling him this name…I even suggested to Kelvin…why not we just leave it as it is…we named him Kaelan..but dun add it into his birth cert. lor…can do also mah….rite…hhehehe

Current Status :
We are still debating over his name….if u have any suggestion…please feel free to give any constructive suggestions….

Well…we’ve already got one cot to be placed in our bedroom….but…as I will be doing my confinement over at my mum’s place…I needed another one over there…

So..brainstorming time…to buy another cot or just buy a playpen will do..?
Storm n storm n storm…what the heck…? Never ending..

Cot

*  To buy a new cot…means extra cost..duplication….what to do to with
    it …when Lil’ One grows up? Very extra rite….?

*  What about a 2nd hand one…? 
 - Yah…tried our luck at Salvation Army..no
    luck at the Bukit Timah outlet (touted to be the biggest outlet), so tried
    the one nearest to our home (Woodsville)..biangz…we found the one
    we…want…yesh..but…when u add up all the costs (delivery +
    installation)…might as well go buy a new one! *Bish*
 - Tried the Internet too….nothing much…too…looking old never mind but
    they are selling at prices which I can buy new ones too…seow leh..!
*  I GAVE UP ON 2ND HAND COT!

So..more brainstorming…

Playpen

*  Next in line, so went round to scout for a decent one…but none came to 
   our (actually is mine) liking…simply b’cos..they are either to low.., too 
   flimsy, if not no changing table or changing table not sturdy or safe for 
   newborn…I tend to consider alot of things one …ok…I’m not fussy 
   ok…safety 1st mah…(ah reminds me of one brand..)

*  when finally…I came across one…by Graco…it fits all my criteria..as a  
   playpen…(the colour, the features…) meant for newborn, I realised it can  
   only hold up to 17 or 18kg! Huh..which is how old? 1+ but then
   again really depends on how fast one child grows? Then what’s the point
   of buying…wasteful of $$$….

DROP THE IDEA …TOO…

So..ANOTHER ROUND OF more brainstorming..

Badly wanted to have the cot, which we bought earlier, to be installed over at my mum’s place 1st…but but…but…somebody objected the idea! Citing that it will be very troublesome lah..this n that…no need to say anymore lor… *Gone with the wind*.

Finally or rather we are too exhausted to think anymore….we headed down to Ikea - Tampines on last Sunday, grab one…and paid for it. Back to square one!

Well, at least I know for sure..that this cot can be converted into a small bed, and so when Lil’ One is much older…and staying over at my mum’s place…he has a proper bed to sleep in. I like the design too…what the heck..!

Well…yesh..the title has aptly described my current situation..and I think it is not going to get any better.

*Sigh*…part-n-parcel of pregnancy…well..I dun think so…but definitely…the increasing weight of Lil’ One..does contribute to the tiah-ness..if u ask me.

Prior to pregnancy, I already has got this sprained somewhere near my tail bone area..but unknowingly (only when I am in certain position I will be able to feel the pain). So…so…suay…I only felt the pain…after I realised I was like 2-3mths pregnant..arggghhh….! I can’t do any tui nah..so tahan until now..and until dunoe when…lor…

Walk to much, sit too long or stand too long or sleep wrong position also pain…It was during these moments I just can’t wait for Lil’ One to be delivered and finished confinement..n when time is right….go for whatever treatment deems fit..

In the meantime, I have to endure..lor…hopefully it will not interfere with the delivery of Lil’ One…so dun be shock, surprise or even laugh….to see me walk in a very weird manner…or like a penguin….or suddenly…u see me…my whole body twitches…or machiam like kena electric shock …hahaha…

How time flies..yeah?

I can still vividly remember the day we see the ‘+’ sign on the pregnancy kit…and now..it’s the 9th visit to gynae ler! Soon…our Lil’ One…will be popping out..yah…sounds easy…”popping out”…hahah..wonder its from “down under” or “front opening”…

Anyway, it’s been a busy time for me…both at work n meeting up friends and preparing Lil’ One’s stuff..yah n it’s like never ending…n I think it will never..

Went for our 9th gynae check-up just a week ago, all is well…my weight is escalating but not as bad as the previous round..hehehe….but Dr Ong still choice not to comment on it…hehehe…One consolation is Lil’ One..is doing fine…he is much about 1.9kg already, although we had wished that he could grow more…but Dr Ong..is against the idea…

No pix this time round, as he don’t show really clear in the ultrasound scan…so..nothing to see…for u guys lah…but I think more or less the same thing….lah…”button-nose”…heheh…

Another good news is..he has turned head down already…at least now I am half-assured…(although there is a possibility that he may decided to turn back up again..as long he is not “engaged” yet) Well, I trust that he is a good n cooperative boy….(u better not failed mummy leh)..Well, if he decided to do so I also bo bian …come what may bah..

Well, looking forward to the next visit definitely though…and see how much he has grown…
