Last Weekend – 8 Oct 2008
Our 7th Gynae Check-up
Well..how time flies…I am into the first week of my third trimester already…soon we will be able to meet Lil’ One. We are so curious to find out how he looks like…more like mummy? or pappy? hehee…and so tempted to do a 3D scan…still contemplating….
What the heck…Saturday still got to wake up so early..at 7 am, no choice man…got to go for my 7th gynae check-up. Ok, on this 7th visit is supposed to be a scheduled GTT and I am supposed to fast overnight from Friday..well not really an issue for me..cos..I don’t really eat after 10 pm. Anyway, the real torture is the 2 hrs wait after drinking the glucose-loaded drink….yucks! I find it dreadful…
So I was there at 8.30am, my weight n BP are measured and I am glad that I have not gained much weight (~1kg) since my last visit and my BP is normal, then followed by the drawing of blood (pre-prandial) and then I was asked to collect my urine specimen and then the glucose drink. Boy, was I glad to taste the glucose-loaded drink…cos..it wasn’t as bad as I have thought it to be…it was carbonated some more! So unlike those days when I was working in a clinic when we have to make those concentrated glucose drink (machiam like glucolin powder) for some patients. Hahahah…I am so behind time..
After finishing the drink, I continued with my consultation. Without any breakfast..man..I was feeling a bit famished already…and I can feel that my stomach acid is brewing inside my tummy. While Dr Ong is doing a scan for Lil’ One, and with my tummy exposed I could feel Lil’ One busy kicking n punching inside me too…haha…and incidentally he was caught in the act…by Dr Ong or technically speaking..the ultrasound machine! See he is clenching his fist and opening his mouth…ready for some punching..
I am glad to know that Lil’ One is growing steadily and at 28th week he is ~1.2 kg. Keep it up Lil’ One!
After the consultation comes the 2 hr agonizing wait. Thank goodness that there was some reading materials and two cutie babies to keep me company. When the 2hrs wait is over, Kelvin arrived and another round of blood drawing and urine specimen collection. Oh…before my leave Shirley managed to make a delivery booking for me…at the Mt Alvernia hospital…and I am keeping my fingers crossed that the one-bedded room will be available when I delivered Lil’ One, otherwise poor Kelvin will have no where to rest and we won’t have any privacy.
After a nice lunch at Paragon, we headed back home for a short rest before we set out to Mt Alvernia hospital for our 2nd session of the antenatal class.
Antenatal Class – 2nd Session
I have been looking forward to this session and the next, cos its all about physiotherapy for the preggy mummies. What has it got to do with daddies then…? Hahaha….at the end of the session I am so happy n glad that Kelvin attended too…why? Cos besides the exercises we learned to tone our muscles and to relieve aches, the daddies have to learn the different massage techniques to help preggy mummies to relax…! It is so comfortable and I almost dozed off…hehe..I am glad that Kelvin is there to learn what his preggy wife is going through.. and what/how he can help to alleviate my problems…(he better be..man, I was worried lor cos he was yawning in the class..too cosy liao..) Hehehe…so just in case he forgets and to make him remember the various massage techniques…he needs lots of practice..and so I got excuses to let him practice on a daily basis….practice makes perfect mah.
While in the class, we are so boh liao that we managed to take photos while the physiotherapist is busy teaching the individual preggy mummies.
Back at Sembawang
After dinner, we headed back to Sembawang. Suddenly, I have the urge to do a stock check at Lil’ One’s clothing and at the same time, to send them for washing. As I was unpacking them from plastic bags and laying them on the bed…I realized that..there are alot…
- Geezzzz…looks like mostly shades of blue..n white n only a bit of yellow..
Some are bought from Mothercare and the Internet, while some are from Jia-Jia (maternal grandma in Hakka), which she has bought from wholesaler (she and her lobangs…) ..and some are from friends…is that too many????…. erhmm…I am not sure either…but it’s ok..I can always hand it to whoever needs it…rite?
Well, still got a lot of unfinished business and this weekend will be another burnt one…will update again.
